Alvaro Tauchert Soler (born January 9, 1991 in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain) is a German/Spanish singer, songwriter, and composer. With his 2015 song "El mismo sol," he became a household name across Europe. Jennifer Lopez stars in an unique bilingual Spanish/English version of "El mismo sun," which is competing for international release in the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries.
He was bilingual from an early age, having been born in Barcelona to a German father and a Spanish and Belgian mother. At the age of ten, he traveled to Japan with his parents and stayed there until he was seventeen. In Japan, he began taking piano lessons at a young age. When he returned to Barcelona in 2010, he formed the musical group Urban Lights with his brother and some friends.
The band proceeded to perform music that was described as a blend of British pop, indie pop, and electronic music, and they gained a local following.They won a university music competition, and the band made it to the final eight of the Spanish music casting competition Tú sí que vales! in 2013.
They self-released several items and an album. Soler also went to a music school and worked for a modeling agency in Barcelona while studying industrial design at Escuela de Grafismo Elisava.
In 2014, Soler decided to leave the Urban Lights band and go solo, establishing himself as a German musician. He is based in Berlin and just released the track "El mismo sol," which was co-written by Soler and Ali Zuckowski, as well as Simon Triebel (of the band Juli) and produced by Triebel.
The single, which was published on April 24, 2015, was an instant hit in Italy, reaching number one on the FIMI and being certified double platinum. It also charted at the top of the Swiss Hitparade singles chart. He had a pan-European hit with the song, which charted in Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, and the Netherlands.
Soler's debut solo album, Eterno Agosto, was released on Universal Music on June 23, 2015, as a result of his popularity. Soler was named a judge for the tenth season of the Italian talent show X Factor in 2016. Soler performed his freshly released track on the Latin American Music Accolades on 6 October 2016 alongside Mexican actress/singer Lucero, in addition to being nominated for awards.
Soler collaborated with Polish singer Monika Lewczuk on a cover of his song "Libre." He recently worked with Morat on a new song for the film 'Despicable Me 3,' also known as 'Gru 3 mi villano favorito.' 'Yo contigo, Tu conmigo' is the title of the song, and the video will be released on June 16th.
